SOUTH African stocks started trade slightly firmer on Wednesday thanks to gains in Anglo American and Richemont, but weakness in synthetic fuel producer Sasol capped the gains. At 0730 GMT, the benchmark all-share index was 0,39% or 30,5 points higher at 7,804.8, taking its lead from the US markets which ended higher for a second day running on Tuesday. Anglo gained 0,9% to R99,50, extending overnight gains after closing up more than twelve percent, while Sasol shed 2,05% to R71,50. Richemont added 1,3% to R168. – Reuters
