Going to the extreme

Running from September 28 to 30, the third incarnation of the festival promises to be the biggest to date. Events at Woodstock have been separated into six areas: the Dance Valley, the Pea Pod, the Red Bull extreme sports area, flea markets and the Blunt and Musica stages.

The Musica stage boasts an excellent line-up of acts that includes Blk Sonshine, Brasse vannie Kaap, folk hero Rodriguez, Wonderboom, Sunways, Watershed, Koos Kombuis and Saron Gas, as well as one of the last performances of the Springbok Nude Girls, who are calling it a day.

On the Blunt stage, expect the best of the country’s punk and rock sounds with Agro, Fruit Fly Navigators, Perez, Odball, Plum, CrossingPoint, Evil Eddies, United Kingdom punk act Skirt Box and many more.

The Pea Pod incorporates a range of areas such as the Green Stage (with acts such as Riku Latti, Roots 2000 and hip-hop masters Bionic, Mista Bigga and Twiggz) and a The Doors nightclub floor and bar.

As usual the extreme sports feature strongly with the massive Red Bull vert ramp daunting all skaters. There will be BMX, skateboarding and inline skating displays and a volleyball tournament is also planned.

A variety of dance sounds will keep all fans on their feet in the Dance Valley with trance outfit Mushroom Mafia (Mikey Dredd, Starspine and others), talented up-and-coming DJs from the Technics DJ Mix Club, and DJs Nelson, Justin Vee, Thermobee (from the United Kingdom), Speedy, D-Frost, Stuart Hillary, Mbuso, Alan Inferno and many others spinning anything from progressive house to techno.
