IMF RELEASES 12 MILLION DOLLARS FOR RWANDA

THE International Monetary Fund has released $12-million in assistance for Rwanda as part of an antipoverty initiative that started in 1998, the fund said on Wednesday. “The Rwandan authorities have continued to make progress in strengthening macroeconomic management and structural reforms,” the IMF said in a statement.” This is evidenced by the continued robust economic growth, low inflation and the build-up of foreign exchange reserves in the context of a stable exchange rate.” The average annual income per capita in Rwanda is around $250 per year. Over 60% of the population lives below the poverty line, according to the national programme against poverty. – AFP
