BRITISH AIRWAYS SLASHES FARES FROM ZIMBABWE

BRITISH Airways (BA) has slashed its fares by as much as 23% for flights between Harare and London during the rest of October and November, the official Ziana news agency said. “British Airways appreciates the financial difficulties being faced by Zimbabweans who wish to travel,” BA marketing coordinator Clare Wingfield told the state-run news agency. Economy class fares will now be 49 445 Zimbabwe dollars ($899), while club class tickets will drop from 241,670 to 186,945 Zimbabwe dollars ($4 394 to $3 399). Zimbabwe’s crippling economic crisis has seriously damaged the market for travel, and the ongoing political violence has scared away visitors to Zimbabwe. BA and South African Airways are the only major international carriers still flying into Zimbabwe. – AFP
