UNITA SEEKS MORAL SUPPORT

TWO Unita members of the Angolan Parliament concluded a visit to Brussels on Wednesday as part of a two-week tour aimed at acquiring support for dialogue in the war-torn country entering its third decade of civil war. Daniel Jose Domingos Maluka’and Manuel Savihemba met various members of the European Parliament with the Unita pair reminding the MEPs of the pressing need to begin dialog in Angola as a way to achieve peace. ”We are asking for moral support to achieve peace”, Domingos said after the meeting with MEPs – mainly from the European Popular Party (EPP). Domingos and Savihemba are part of the Angolan Parliament’s Commission for Peace and National reconciliation and have recently been in Washington for meetings with various bodies and political parties, at the invitation of the National Democratic Institute. – Sapa
