A POLICE station commissioner shot his wife and three children to death before turning the gun on himself at their home in Jansenville in Uitenhage on Tuesday morning. Eastern Cape police spokeswoman Michelle Kleinhans said Captain Andries Japhta (34) shot dead his wife Helen (31) and their three children Anatacia (11) Ezrah (6) and Delano (2) at their home around 5.55am. The house is situated next to the Jansenville police station where the 34-year-old was the station commissioner. Kleinhans said the motive for the killings was not known. Provincial Democratic Alliance representative Bobby Stevenson said: ”Clearly members of the SAPS are working under great stress and something needs to be done to address this issue. They need to know that we care about them and want to support them.” – Sapa
