FIRST AFRICAN MISS WORLD

AGBANI Darego of Nigeria won the 2001 Miss World beauty pageant at the lavish Sun City resort in South Africa on Friday night. Darego (18) was chosen out of 96 contestants from around the world. She is a computer science student, and wants to become a supermodel, as well as a computer scientist. The first runner up was Zerelda Lee (19) who is Miss Aruba while Miss Scotland, Juliet Jane Horne (18) was the second princess. Miss Costa Rica won a four-year scholarship at the Hawaii Pacific University. – Sapa
