A PORT Nolloth man is expected to appear in a local magistrate’s court on Wednesday for allegedly raping a two-and-half-year old baby, Northern Cape police said. Superintendent Hendrik Swart said on Tuesday the police expected the community to stage a protest outside the court building in Port Nolloth, Namaqualand. SABC radio news earlier reported that the community was expected to demonstrate against the toddler’s alleged rapist. Richtersveld municipality mayor Dan Singh said the community would hand over a memorandum to the local police chief. The baby was allegedly raped over the weekend while being cared for by its 17-year-old sister. A 43-year-old woman found the toddler drenched in blood in a field and alerted the family. – Sapa
