Chapman’s Peak Drive to become a toll road

Cape Town’s scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive will become a toll road from September 30 this year.

However, work to repair and restore the road is underway and it will not be opened until November or December next year, the Western Cape ministry for transport, public works and property management said on Thursday.

”It is only then that the toll plaza will operate and the respective toll fees become applicable,” the ministry said in a statement.

Transport and Public Works MEC Tasneem Essop told the provincial legislature earlier this week that a toll gate will be set up near East Fort where motorists will pay R18, motorcyclists R12, minibuses drivers R27, midibuses R55 and buses R110. – Sapa
