Four arrested after murder of pastor, three children

Four men were arrested over the weekend after a pastor and three children were stabbed to death in Newcastle on Thursday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

The bodies of Pastor Maskozana Grace Khumalo (54) and her three foster children, Malibongwe Khumalo, seven, Zwakele Khumalo, 10 and Lindokuhle Ngobese, 10, were found dumped along the road between Watervaal prison and Osizweni on Friday.

Captain Vish Naidoo said two teenagers, aged 17 and 18, were arrested on Saturday after they were allegedly found driving Khumalo’s Toyota Venture in KwaCeza near Newcastle. Two men, aged 22 and 30, were arrested on Sunday.

Naidoo said police were awaiting a report from a pathologist to confirm whether Khumalo was raped.

He said the four were expected to appear in the Utrecht Magistrate’s Court near Newcastle on Tuesday in connection with murder, rape, robbery and kidnapping. – Sapa
