Mob takes revenge after four commuters are killed

Four people were killed and several others injured when a vehicle ran them down before its driver was also beaten to death allegedly by an angry mob in Klipgat, outside Mabopane township in the North West on Sunday.

SABC radio news reported on Monday that the incident occurred while a group of commuters were waiting for public transport not far from the Morula Sun.

The motorist apparently lost control of the vehicle, run down two people and tried to drive on — killing two more — before the crowd managed to stop him.

The mob then allegedly tried to set the motorist’s body alight. The victims included a three-month old baby and its mother. It had not yet been established whether the motorist had been under the influence of liquor.

North West police were not readily available to comment on the incident early Monday morning. – Sapa
