Namibian police have arrested a 22-year-old woman in connection with the rape of an 11-year-old boy at Onailonga village near Ondobe, the Namibian Press Agency reported on Wednesday.
Public Prosecutor for the Ohangwena region, Carlo McLeod, confirmed the arrest and said the woman appeared in the magistrate’s court at Eenhana on Tuesday.
The case was postponed to November 7 for further investigation, and the woman will appear in court again on Friday for a bail application.
Selma Namadi was staying in the same homestead as the boy last month when she allegedly forced him to have sexual intercourse on several days while his parents were away from home, McLeod said.
The boy’s mother became suspicious last month when the boy complained of pain and a rash that had developed on the tip of his penis.
The boy then told his mother that Namadi used to invite him to bed and always forced him to have sexual intercourse with her.
The mother took the boy to a hospital, where he was diagnosed as having a sexually transmitted disease.
McLeod said police were approached to take a statement and to investigate the incident. The woman was arrested last Sunday. – Sapa
