R15 000 saves Cape Town man’s life

A stack of cash in a Cape Town man’s breast pocket saved his life when robbers shot at him in Phillippi-East near Nyanga, Western Cape police said.

Captain Jacques Wiese on Saturday said the 44-year-old man was on his way to his business premises from a bank with R15 000 cash to pay wages.

”He had placed the money in an envelope, inside his jacket pocket. As he stopped, he was approached by three men. One of the suspects stood in front of his vehicle and fired one shot through his windscreen.

”The projectile entered the right side of his jacket pocket and was lodged in the money.”

The man jumped out of the vehicle and ran into a nearby building. He only noticed a hole in his jacket later and discovered that the bullet had been lodged in the money.

He was not injured and his assailants ran away. – Sapa
