A thief in Australia incriminated himself by posing for a photograph on a digital camera that he pretended to want to buy but later stole, news reports on Tuesday said.
The man first visited a suburban Adelaide home to look over a digital camera that the occupants had advertised for sale in a local newspaper.
To demonstrate how the camera worked, the vendor took a photograph of the prospective buyer.
He returned to the house three days later, threatened the occupants and ransacked the house to find the camera, Australia’s AAP news agency reported.
He fled in a red car, leaving behind a photo of himself stored on a computer hard drive.
Adelaide police are confident of solving the crime speedily now that they have a description of the thief. – Sapa
