Western Cape police are looking for the missing father of a 3-year-old girl whose raped and murdered body was found at Khayelitsha on Saturday, police said.
Superintendent Riaan Pool said Sokolisile Khomiya may be able to help with the investigation into the toddler’s brutal death.
The toddler’s father was last seen when her mother, Mandisa Khomiya, went to stay with her sister at about 10pm on Friday leaving the child with him.
The little girl’s partly dressed body was found near house number VT347, Site B, Khayelitsha on Saturday morning and a preliminary post-mortem confirmed she had been raped before being smothered to death.
Police who searched the Khomiya’s house found a white sheet, a man’s shirt and trousers with traces of blood on them. The clothing has been sent for forensic testing.
