BODY OF DIVER FOUND OFF E-CAPE COAST

POLICE at Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape are investigating the possibility that the badly mutilated body of a woman in a diving suit found at Geelhoutboomstrand, on Wednesday, could be that of a 24-year-old student who went missing at Margate on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast. Uitenhage police representative Michelle Kleynhans on Friday confirmed the discovery of the body, found at about 8.30am on Wednesday by a member of a public. Juanita Smit and 54-year-old Dr Roy McIntosh, both experienced divers, vanished at Protea Reef off Shelley Beach, near Margate on December 8. They were part of a group of 10 divers from Pretoria and Pietersburg. Kleynhans said police have not yet confirmed the identity of the body, but they were investigating all possibilities – Sapa
