A community policing officer (CPO) was killed and two CPOs were wounded on Sunday night when they came under automatic rifle fire while investigating a report of gang activity in Ravensmead, Cape Town, police said. Representative Superintendent Wicus Holtzhausen said the three, accompanied by a policeman, followed up the report. At the corner of Firdale and Louwna streets they came under fire and the three were wounded. Constable BM Prins later died of her wounds. The other two were hospitalised. Eighteen 5,56mm cartridges, used by R4 and R5 assault rifles, were found near the scene. – Sapa
