HIT-AND-RUN MOTORIST IN COURT

A MOTORIST who allegedly drove his vehicle into a group of cyclists practising for the Argus-Pick and Pay cycle tour, made his second appearance in court on Wednesday. Mark Keyser (25) of 27 Overbosch Street, Blaauberg, apparently drove away from the scene after a number of cyclists were sent sprawling. Some had to receive hospital treatment. Keyser was arrested the same day, and released on R1 000 bail, after he handed himself over to the Table View police. At Wednesday’s hearing, prosecutor Denys Pedro asked for a postponement to March 20, as the docket had not been brought to court. Keyser faces a charge of reckless driving, but the prosecutor said the charge could be changed to several counts of attempted murder. – Sapa
