ANC YOUTH TO PROTEST RACISM

THE African National Congress Youth League says it intends to stage a countrywide protest on Friday against racism and to demand the release of jailed former pupil Andrew Babeile. Ancyl has persistently called for the unconditional release or presidential pardon of Babeile, a former Vryburg High school pupil who is serving a three-year jail term for stabbing a schoolmate with a pair of scissors in 1999 during racial conflict at the school. The protest action would take place outside courts countrywide because the judiciary ruled in favour of white people in cases of racially motivated offences. – Sapa
