South African Finance Minister caught speeding

Finance Minister Trevor Manuel has been fined R300 for speeding, with his children in the car, on a busy Cape Town road on Tuesday, the Star newspaper reported on Wednesday.

A proud south peninsula Traffic Department officer disclosed on Tuesday that the minister was clocked and caught on video allegedly doing 86km/h in a 60km/h zone in his BMW 530i in Wynberg.

He was apparently taking his children to a school rehearsal for next month’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2003 opening ceremony at Newlands. – Sapa
