Intruder killed at ANC chairman’s home

An intruder was killed when three men attempted to break into the home of African National Congress KwaZulu-Natal chairman S’bu Ndebele outside Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday morning, police reported.

Senior Superintendent Henry Budhram said the trio broke into Ndebele’s home in Crammond about 15km outside Pietermaritzburg. Police were not immediately able to say what time the incident occurred.

According to the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal security guards at the house noticed the intruders in Ndebele’s garden opposite the window of his main bedroom.

They had apparently cut the wire fence to gain entry.

”The guards immediately began shooting at them, fatally wounding one of the would-be attackers. The two others fled. Police were then called in,” the ANC said.
