No more smelly passengers for Joburg buses

Passengers with smelly armpits could be banned from travelling in taxis and public buses if new draft laws are adopted by the city council, the Sowetan reported on Friday.

According to proposed new by-laws a bus or taxi driver can throw out a passenger who is dirty or smelly. The by-laws will also give the driver the power to refuse passengers who are drunk or suffering from contagious diseases. The proposed by-laws are open for public scrutiny and could be promulgated at mid-year.

The laws also spell out how drivers are expected to behave. – Sapa
