Cape Town’s Table Mountain is emerging as the favourite icon for branding South African tourism, says Environment and Tourism Minister Mohammed Valli Moosa.
At a briefing at parliament Tuesday, he said tourism authorities in conjunction with his department were working on icons and branding. It was envisaged that one icon — along the lines of Sydney Opera house — represent South Africa but there was obviously competition by the nine provinces, he noted.
To laughter he said that as a Gautenger he would have preferred the Hillbrow tower — in Johannesburg — but clearly Table Mountain was emerging as the favourite branding icon.
He also noted that at the moment there were numerous icons representing South Africa, including wildlife, beaches and Table Mountain. – I-Net-Bridge
