Chris Rossouw ruled out of Stormers tour

Stormers flyhalf Chris Rossouw on Monday joined older brother Pieter on the sidelines when he was ruled out of the rest of his side’s tour of New Zealand and Australia.

The younger Rossouw, who sustained a knee injury in the Stormers’ 41-17 Super 12 loss to the Highlanders on Saturday, will return to South Africa on Wednesday.

Further assessment confirmed that Rossouw had sustained a medial collateral ligament sprain, Grade Two, of the left knee. The duration of his rehabilitation is expected to be between four and six weeks. No replacement will be sent at this stage. The other flyhalf in the squad is Gaffie du Toit, while Werner Greeff can

also play in the position.

Meanwhile, the Stormers will on Tuesday assess Greeff’s injury, which was diagnosed as acromio-clavicular joint sprain and rotator cuff muscle strain to his right shoulder. There is still a chance he will play in Friday’s match against the Hurricanes in Wellington. – Sapa
