Telkom’s Moche named CEO of Denel

South African telecommunications parastatal Telkom (TKG) CEO Sizwe Nxasana has announced the resignation of Victor Moche as Telkom group executive for regulatory and public policy, effective at the end of April, in order to take up the position of CEO of government-owned defence group Denel.

Announcing the move on Thursday, Nxasana said “The appointment is an affirmation of the quality and depth of management at Telkom in addition to being a vote of confidence in the proven abilities of Mr Moche.”

Moche joined Telkom in 1996 as the group executive for public affairs.

Nxasana also announced the appointment of Nkenke Kekana as the new Telkom group executive for regulatory and public policy, effective June 1, 2003.

The Regulatory and Public Policy organisation at Telkom deals with issues of competition and dispute resolution, consumer protection, customer service and service delivery to communities. It also deals with issues that relate to the interpretation and implementation of the Telkom License, regulations and the Telecommunications Act.

Kekana has been involved in the information and communication sector for the past 20 years. He has been a member of parliament since 1994 and has participated in the formulation of major telecommunications and broadcasting legislation.

He has served as the chairperson of the Communications portfolio committee in the National Assembly since 1999 and in this capacity has also hosted many public hearings on communications issues such as the role of telecommunications in Africa, the quality of cellular services in South Africa and the transformation of the advertising industry. – I-Net Bridge
