NNP confirms decision to stay with ANC

The decision to join the African National Congress (ANC) has ensured that New National Party (NNP) supporters have moved into a position of political influence, the party said on Friday.

Speaking after the NNP’s Federal Council met in Cape Town, secretary-general Daryl Swanepoel said the decision had ensured that the party’s supporters were not isolated from political decision-making processes.

”The NNP commits itself to reconciliation and nation-building in South Africa,” he said.

He said the Federal Council endorsed the party’s efforts to represent the Party’s supporters in the decision-making processes of the country.

The council has also asked the party executive to investigate possible strategies for the party’s participation in next year’s general election. ‒ Sapa
