South Africans urged to ‘do it’ online

Are you ready to perform in one of the world’s largest online sex surveys?

The questionnaire for the 2003 edition of the Durex Global Sex Survey is now available online at www.durex.com, organisers said on Tuesday.

Last year, the annual survey found that almost four in 10 respondents admitted they had had unprotected sex with a new partner in the last year.

This is despite the fact that 65% of all the respondents internationally believed HIV/Aids was serious in their country. The survey would again ask respondents about their sexual attitudes and behaviour, the use of contraception, sex education and awareness of sexually transmitted infections.

”Every year Durex conducts research all over the world to survey different nationalities about their attitude towards sex. In order to be represented in the global results, over 1 000 South Africans are required to participate in the survey which will be online until July 7 2003,” the organisers said.

Thereafter, the results for all countries will be collated. The global results will be released later this year to coincide with World Aids Day.

Last year, the 2002 Global Sex Survey revealed that South Africans had sex an average of 146 times a year, with 70% of South Africans having had a one night stand.

Age and nationality-based, the survey aims to collate information on global attitudes towards sex, sexual practices and sexual awareness, and asks relatively intimate questions.

South African respondents to the survey can expect to answer who they think are their sexiest South African sporting and entertainment celebrities, choose their most romantic getaway, offer their views on where the government should be spending its health budget, as well as their favourite sexual position and sex aids.

The survey also asks respondents to send in an optional photo to be published with the final results. – Sapa
