Champions League winners AC Milan have revealed that they have made England captain David Beckham their top transfer target. The 28-year-old midfielder now looks certain to leave Manchester United after the English Premiership champions confirmed that they had ”firm interest” from clubs in Spain and Italy.
Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta has expressed his desire to take Beckham to the Nou Camp if he is elected on June 15. Now Milan vice chairperson Adriano Galliani has told the Sun newspaper: ”Beckham is our primary target. We are pursuing our objective and will do everything in our power to get him.”
Speculation has been rife over Beckham’s future with United, revealing they have received several enquiries regarding the player with Barcelona, Real Madrid and European champions AC Milan all reportedly interested in signing him for a fee in the region of £30-million pounds ($50-million).
”Manchester United can confirm that clubs from Italy and Spain have expressed a firm interest in signing David Beckham,” United confirmed.
”David’s advisers SFX have also been approached by clubs independently and we are in regular and close contact with them regarding the status on those discussions, which are ongoing.” – Sapa-AFP
