Silver Stars’s Surprise Moriri scored a last minute equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw against Sundowns in a Castle Premier League encounter played at Odi Stadium on Wednesday night, and Lamontville Golden Arrows registered a 2-0 win when they played at home against Dynamos in a PSL match at Chatsworth Stadium in Durban.
The halftime score in the Silver Stars-Sundowns match was 0-0.
In a game of two halves, Sundowns dominated the opening stanza while the visitors enjoyed much possession in the second half.
Stars attacked from the second minute through Dingaan Masanabo, who forced Sundowns goalkeeper Andre Arendse to save at full-stretch.
The goals came in the second half with the opener from Sundowns through new signing Manqoba Ngwenya, who headed home a beautifully laid cross by substitute Paulus Masehe.
Stars drew level in the last minute of referee’s optional time from the boot of Moriri, who beat an advancing Arendse.
In Durban, Arrows failed to capitalised in the first minutes of the game when they had several good chances to open the scoring.
Arrows showed good combination through the likes of Bongani Ntshangase and Siyabonga Khanyile, but Lucky Sibeko failed to capitalise as he played as striker, partnering Mabhuti Khanyeza.
The first goal of the game came in the 36th minute when Sibeko finished after receiving a ball from Khanyeza.
Then in the second half coach Khabo Zondo put on Herlary Milanzi in the place of Papin Zothwane in the 85th minute.
Simultaneously, the coach employed the services of Thiyekile ”Ace” Gulwa and he put the result beyond doubt three minutes after coming on.
Dynamos had their chances to pull a goal back but squandered a number of opportunities, none more so than when Tomas Ledingwane failed to convert in the 70th minute. — Sapa
