Injury brings Bobo to his knees

Springbok centre Gcobani Bobo is out of the 2003 Rugby World Cup. Bobo tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during a warm-up game against the Vodacom Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.

The team doctor examined the injury on Wednesday, and concluded that the severity of the injury meant that Bobo could take no part in the tournament in Australia.

Bobo has been referred to a specialist who will decide if it will be necessary for him to undergo surgery. The Springbok management has not yet decided on a replacement for Bobo. Management will meet on Thursday to consider the options
