Only one match will be played in Johannesburg in the initial stages of the 2003 Coca Cola Cup soccer competition to be played in the first two weeks of October.
Moroka Swallows and Sundowns will play their last 16 game at a Johannesburg stadium where the Dube Birds would have home advantage, it was announced on Monday.
The venues of all the games, including that of Swallows and Sundowns, will be announced on Thursday after a meeting of the cup committee.
Premier Soccer League boss Trevor Phillips said the Coca Cola Cup, which Jomo Cosmos won last season, would be much more competitive this year.
”It will be exciting, and I can assure you one thing, it will be very competitive,” Phillips said at the launch of the competition in Midrand on Monday.
Manning Rangers will host Orlando Pirates in Durban and Golden Arrows would welcome Zulu Royals presumably at the Kings Park Stadium in Durban.
Supersport United and Wits University would travel to Limpopo to play against Silver Stars and Black Leopards respectively.
In Cape Town, Santos host Kaizer Chiefs, Ajax Cape Town play Dynamos and Hellenic entertain Jomo Cosmos.
Some games will be played on October 1, 4 and 5 while the balance will be played on October 15, 18 and 19. Some of the quarterfinals will played on October 29 with the balance to take place on November 1 and 2.
The semifinal of the competition will follow on November 22 and 23 with the final on December 6.
The winner of the competition will take home R2-million. — Sapa
