The editor of City Press, Vusi Mona, was linked to a company being paid millions to manage Mpumalanga’s image, The Star reported on Friday.
Mona is a director in one of three companies trading as Rainbow Communications and Rainbow Kwanda Communications.
Rainbow is responsible for advertisements, marketing, public relations and media liaison for the province. It is also behind the advertisement placed in various newspapers earlier this month accusing the media of lying, bribery, intimidation and theft of three damning audit reports that outlined corruption in the
Mpumalanga Health Department.
The Star also reported that Mona and his business partner Dr Moss Mashamaite secured a R395 000 contract from the Mpumalanga Parks Board for Rainbow to improve its public image.
Rainbow Communications might also have been paid by the Mpumalanga government for work it did not do.
The office of Premier Ndaweni Mahlangu paid Rainbow R3 686 586 for billboard displays and advertisements on buses, taxis and in a number of publications.
Most of the advertisements have not appeared or not even been booked, said The Star. – Sapa
