Three suspected members of the radical Hamas group were killed in Gaza City when an Israeli attack helicopter fired missiles at a car containing the group, Palestinian witnesses and medical sources said on Monday.
Ten people were reported wounded in the attack, which destroyed the vehicle as it was travelling in the northern part of Gaza City, the witnesses said. Earlier reports had spoken of 12 Palestinians wounded.
Israeli F-16 fighter jets and Apache attack helicopters have been active in the skies over the city, with a fighter-jet attack credited by Israeli military with having destroyed a Hamas weapons factory.
Palestinians said the attack appeared directed against the nearby home of a leader of another militant group, Islamic Jihad.
The leader, Abdullah al-Shami, was not at home at the time, sources said.
