End of the road for PSL coaches

Another Premier Soccer League (PSL) coach has had his services terminated after Hellenic decided to dispense with the services of Clemens Westerhof. Orlando Pirates coach Roy Barreto resigned from the Premier Soccer League champion side on Tuesday.

When Westerhof was appointed at the beginning of the season he vowed that Hellenic would finish in the top eight of the competition. But after seven games Hellenic are languishing at the bottom of the table with only one point.

Hellenic are hoping to secure the services of their previous coach, Neil Tovey, but this would only be confirmed later this week.

The reason for this is that Tovey is awaiting confirmation of a national development job with the PSL. Unfortunately funds are lacking at the PSL and Tovey indicated he would speak to its CEO, Trevor Phillips.

He is expected to inform Hellenic of his decision at the weekend.

Tovey was instrumental in helping Hellenic avoid relegation last season.

In the Pirates’ camp, Barreto’s resignation came just days after Pirates were dumped from the Coca Cola Cup after losing 2-1 to Manning Rangers.
