NDA chief suspended

National Development Agency (NDA) CEO Delani Mthembu has been suspended from his position pending an investigation into allegations of mismanagement and corruption, Social Development Minister Zola Skweyiya announced on Monday.

”We would like to announce the suspension of the CEO in order to allow a fair process of investigation,” he said.

”This is, however, not suggesting that the CEO is guilty until proven so, but in the best interest in allowing the normal functioning of the organisation, as well as a fair process of investigation without interference.”

The suspension followed a preliminary forensic audit of the NDA.

Skweyiya instituted the audit after reports of alleged mismanagement and corruption.

He said the board of the NDA would continue to function until a new board came into being, and preparations for that were at an advanced stage.

The minister called for preliminary investigations into allegations of conflict of interest relating to senior managers in the NDA in August this year. — Sapa
