Nissan X-Trail and Almera recall

Nissan South Africa has started the process of identifying customers affected by a global recall campaign on some X-TRAIL and Almera models. The offending component is a rotating sensor (cam angle sensor and crank angle sensor) of certain engines, which may cause the engine to stop suddenly or not restart. This is not a safety critical issue, and the repair requires that the car spend less than an hour with a mechanic.

Vehicles affected by the recall include the 2,0- and 2,5-litre petrol engine X-TRAIL and the 1,6- and 1,8-litre Almera sedan. The technical problem concerns only one batch of faulty components and does not affect all X-TRAILs and Almeras sold in South Africa.

Owners of affected Nissans will be contacted to make arrangements for the faulty sensor to be replaced. For further information contact Nissan’s Customer Care Hotline toll-free numbers 0800 647726, 0800 111751 and 0800 111754.
