Lukas van Biljon has joined the great trek of rugby players around the country and has entered into a two-year contract with the Cats.
The Sharks hooker, who for the past three years has been the backup to John Smit, sees the move as a career decision and believes that the challenges brought about by the move will provide the necessary impetus to reach new heights in his rugby career.
Van Biljon has represented the Sharks in 21 Super 12 games and 22 Currie Cup games and also has 13 Springbok caps to his name.
He is very grateful towards the management of the Sharks for the way in which this move was handled.
”It is not easy to leave Durban and say goodbye to my teammates as I have been really happy here, but I am looking forward to new doors being opened up for me and making the best of this opportunity,” Van Biljon said. ”I want to thank the players and management of the Sharks and wish them all the very best for next year.”
Sharks coach Kevin Putt added: ”Lukas’s drive and commitment have been evident for all to see on the rugby field. It is always hard to say goodbye to teammates, and the Sharks management and players wish him well in his future endeavours.” — Sapa
