Tunisia announces African Nations squad

Host Tunisia selected Brazilian-born attacker Francileudo Silva Santos, who recently took up Tunisian nationality, in a 22-man squad named Tuesday for the African Nations Cup.

Half of the players picked by coach Roger Lemerre play in Europe. The competition starts later this month.

Santos, of French side Sochaux, will join Imed Mehedhbi, Mohamed Jedidi, Najeh Braham and Ziad Jaziri up front.

The squad

Goal: Ali Boumnijel (FC Rouen, France), Khaled Azaiez (Club Africain), Khaled Fadhel (Club Sportif Sfaxien/CSS).

Defence: Anis Ayari (Stade Tunisien), Alaa Yahia (Guingamp, France), Jose Clayton (Esperance de Tunis), Khaled Badra (Esperance de Tunis), Hatem Trabelsi (Ajax Amsterdam, Holland), Karim Saidi (Club Africain), Karim Hagui (Etoile du Sahel).

Midfield: Jawhar Mnari (Esperance de Tunis), Riadh Bouazizi (Gazi Antespor, Turkey), Adel Chedly (FC Sochaux, France), Kais Ghodhbane (Diar Baxirspor, Turkey), Mehdi Nafti (Santander, Spain), Slim Ben Achour (Paris Saint-Germain, France).
