Hellenic start life in Gauteng with dull draw

Hellenic got their new life in Gauteng off to an inauspicious start with a dull 0-0 draw against Jomo Cosmos in a Premier Soccer League match at the Pam Brink Stadium in Springs on Sunday.

The new owners of Hellenic were hoping to start their battle to avoid relegation with a win against Jomo Cosmos, but in the end had to settle for a point.

The draw leaves Hallenic firmly rooted to the bottom of the PSL log, six points behind their closest rivals, Dynamos.

Hellenic have eight points from 18 matches with only one win the entire season.

The match saw few chances fall to either side and in the end a goalless draw was a fair result.

Cosmos remain in ninth position on the log with 21 points from 18 matches.

Hellenic’s swop-over deal with first division coastal team Premier United, who are actually based in Benoni, finally become official last week after a number of problems blocking the move were ironed out.

One major stumbling block was that there was no ground suitable for Premiership football in Benoni, but this problem has been addressed by moving to nearby Springs. — Sapa
