SA win toss, bowl against New Zealand

South African captain Graeme Smith won the toss and chose to bowl first in the rain-reduced third one-day cricket international against New Zealand at Westpac Stadium on Friday.

New Zealand named an unchanged team from their five-wicket win which levelled the six-match series in Christchurch on Tuesday, while South Africa made two changes, with Lance Klusener and Jacques Rudolph ruled out and replaced by allrounder Albie Morkel and batsman Ashwell Prince.

Klusener has a back injury and Rudolph is ill with the flu, handing Morkel (22) his one-day international debut and Prince his second one-day cap.

The match was to start at 4.30pm [0330 GMT], and reduced to 38 overs per side after damp bowlers’ run-ups delayed the start from the scheduled 2pm.

New Zealand: Stephen Fleming (captain), Michael Papps, Hamish Marshall, Scott Styris, Craig McMillan, Chris Cairns, Jacob Oram, Brendon McCullum, Daniel Vettori, Kyle Mills, Daryl Tuffey.

South Africa: Graeme Smith (captain), Herschelle Gibbs, Jacques Kallis, Boeta Dippenaar, Ashwell Prince, Mark Boucher, Shaun Pollock, Albie Morkel, Nicky Boje, Makhaya Ntini, Andre Nel.

Umpires: Steve Davis (AUS), Tony Hill (NZL). – Sapa-AFP
