Titans clip Eagles’ wings

Alfonso Thomas (3/20) destroyed any chances for the Eagles to win their Standard Bank Pro20 Series cricket match against the Titans at Goodyear Park on Tuesday evening.

After the Titans batted first and scored 184 for five wickets in their 20 overs, Thomas got the important wickets of Boeta Dippenaar (1), Morne van Wyk (3) and Nicky Boje (0) to secure the win.

In the end the Eagles were all out for just 94 with three overs and a ball still left in their innings, giving the Titans a comfortable 91-run victory.

Andre Nel (1/21) also impressed with the ball for the visitors.

Loots Bosman (42, 6×4) was best with the bat for the Eagles, scoring just less than half their runs.

Justin Kemp did not disappoint in the Titans innings after captain Daryll Cullinan won the toss and then decided to bat.

He scored his 48 runs off just 24 balls, which included fours sixes and three fours. Gerald Dros (35) also proved a point by hitting three sixes and a four in his innings off just 20 balls.

Although he did not hit sixes in the same fashion as Dros or Kemp, Jacques Rudolph (46) did what his side expected of him by keeping his wicket in tact.
