Santos drew their Premier Soccer League match against Supersport United 1-1 at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday night, after going into the break locked at 0-0. The first 77 minutes was a poor reflection of soccer, although in the last 12 minutes the game came alive.
It all started when the visitors were rewarded with a free kick on the edge of the box in the 78th minute and Phillip Evans’ pile-driver hit the cross-bar and the ball fell to Abram Raselemane who scored.
Then, four minutes later, Santos were awarded a free kick out of their own 30m and Jonothan Solomons shot high into the top left hand corner, giving Calvin Marlin no chance.
Both goalkeepers — Marlin and Brenden Wardle — made several oustanding saves throughout the 90 minutes. – Sapa
