Rangers thrash Dynamos

Rangers thrashed Dynamos 5-1 in a Castle Premiership encounter played at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday night.

The home side led 3-1 at the interval.

Rangers showed that they meant business from the word go by going forward fiercely. This led to the handling of the ball inside the penalty box by Dynamos’ defender Lifa Gqosha in the second minute.

Referee Daniel Bennet had no hesitation in pointing to the spot and Kerryn Jordaan made no mistake to put his side in the lead.

However, the lead was short-lived when Dynamos Nicholas Mkhabela equalised in the 10th minute, when he headed in David Mathebula’s cross-ball.

Three minutes later Rangers were back in the driving seat when Jordaan scored his second goal.

In the 23rd minute Dynamos were unlucky not to get an equaliser when Mkhabela’s shot hit the woodwork with the Rangers ‘keeper beaten hands down.

Jordaan completed his hat-trick in the 39th minute after rounding the Dynamos ‘keeper before firing into an open net.

In the 67th minute Alton Meiring scored the home side’s fourth when he finished a neat cross from Jordaan.

The three-goal hero was substituted two minutes later for Dale Studzinski who scored in the 71st minute with his first touch.

This defeat has increased the relegation woes for Dynamos as they are now third from the bottom on the Castle Premiership table. — Sapa
