Zulu Royals demolished in Pretoria

Supersport United hammered Zulu Royals 8-1 in a Premier Soccer League fixture in Pretoria on Sunday.

United led 2-1 at half-time.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 24th minute via the boot of their frontman, Phumlani Mkhize.

However, the lead was short-lived when three minutes later, United’s Ricardo Katza equalised after connecting a pinpoint cross from Mandla Zwane. Eleven minutes later it was Zwane’s turn when he rifled home a free-kick a few metres outside of the Royals’ box, to give the home side the lead.

Six minutes into the second half Zwane scored his brace after heading in captain’s Aubin Takuchie’s cross to give the home side a 3-1 advantage.

In a remarkable 15 minutes before the final whistle, United went on the rampage with four quickfire goals. United goalkeeper Grant Johnson started the rout when he converted from the penalty spot after Tshweu Mokoro was fouled in the box by Royals’ Eric Buthelezi.

Dennis Masina (77th), Daniel Matsau (82nd), Tshweu Mokoro (90th) and Richard Ferreira (92nd) completed the demolition. — Sapa
