Leopards sign Matshitse

Black Leopards have started preparing themselves for the 2004/05 season by signing defender Peter Matshitse.

The well-travelled Matshitse has signed a two-year contract with the Limpopo side who are under the watchful eye of former Bafana Bafana coach Ephraim Mashaba.

He was signed by the club after impressing the technical staff at training.

Matshitse is likely to make a debut for Lidoda Duvha should they qualify for the 2004 Telkom Charity Cup at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on July 31.

Leopards are fourth on the vote-line standings behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, defending champions Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Matshitse joined Leopards from Zulu Royals who have since been relegated to the Mvela Golden First Division League after faring badly in the Premiership last season.

He was on loan at Royals from Kaizer Chiefs, the team he joined three seasons ago. Matshitse began his professional football career at Moroka Swallows six seasons ago.

Matshitse was the captain at Swallows. Another former Chiefs player who is back at Leopards is Swazi international Sibusiso Dlamini. Dlamini was off-loaded by Chiefs after failing to impress their technical staff.
