Pirates leave for Cameroon

Orlando Pirates will on Thursday leave for Cameroon to honour their Confederation Cup return match against Sable de Batie in Yaounde on Sunday.

Pirates will be without Zimbabwean Edelbert Dinha who was sent off when they won 4-2 during the first leg match in Orkney two weeks ago.

They are also unlikely to take along injured midfielder Benedict Vilakazi. Vilakazi also missed their 2-1 win over TP Mazembe during the Vodacom Challenge third place play-off at FNB Stadium last weekend.

Augusto Palacios is likely to be in charge for the last time on the senior team bench following the appointment of Kosta Papic as the club’s permanent coach.

Palacios was the club’s caretaker coach following the departure of Zimbabwean Roy Barreto to Manning Rangers last October. Barretio has since rejoined First Division side Free State Stars.

Papic, formerly with African Champions League holders Enyimba of Nigeria, is travelling with the team to Cameroon but will watch the match from the stands.

Pirates are one of two South African clubs competing in this tournament. The other one is Santos who host Cannon Yaounde of Cameroon in Cape Town on Sunday.
