Wallabies recall Samo to squad

Australia on Tuesday recalled blindside breakaway Radike Samo as it moved to reinforce its 26-man squad travelling to South Africa for the Tri-Nations Test against the Springboks in Durban on August 21.

Samo, who was dropped from the Wallabies squad following its opening Tri-Nations loss to New Zealand last month, was one of four new faces named by coach Eddie Jones.

Fellow ACT Brumbies players Mark Gerrard and Nic Henderson will also make the trip to South Africa, as will NSW Waratahs centre Nathan Grey.

Jones said the Wallabies had put themselves in the ”best possible position” to win the Tri-Nations since the opening loss by subsequently beating the Springboks and the All Blacks.

”Over the last couple of weeks the guys have showed some gradual improvements at the lineout, scrum and with our first up tackles,” Jones said.

”We’ll need to work hard and continue on with those improvements as we prepare for the match in Durban.”

The Wallabies will spend two days training in Sydney on Thursday and Friday this week and are scheduled to fly to Johannesburg at 10am on the morning of Saturday 14 August.
