‘They still think he will rise from the dead’

The body of Paul Meintjes, whose resurrection was predicted by a ”prophet” after his death about six weeks ago, is back with his family, mortician Nico Foulds said on Wednesday.

Foulds said he delivered the body to the family at their home in Hertzogville in the Free State.

Foulds on Tuesday met with the family after a protest by some disgruntled relatives and town residents in front of the Meintjes home.

He requested the family to remove the body to a state mortuary by noon on Wednesday if they still wanted to wait for his resurrection.

”They still think he [Meintjes] will rise from the dead. I feel sorry for them,” Foulds said.

Meintjes’s body has been kept frozen in the mortuary since July 1 after a family prophet predicted he would rise from the dead. The family has been waiting ever since but no resurrection has so far occurred. — Sapa
