Zoo offers wild wedding parties

Couples who fancy a literally wild wedding party can now hold their reception among the animals at one of Singapore’s top nature parks.

Newlyweds can choose from a variety of themed receptions at the Singapore Zoo or Jurong Bird Park, which are managed by Wildlife Reserves Singapore.

”Depending on individual preference, close encounters with butterflies, doves, mandarin ducks, flamingoes, elephants and horses can be experienced,” a press statement said on Wednesday.

Singapore Zoo executive director Fanny Lai said the themed weddings are ideal for couples looking for an alternative to a traditional celebration normally held in hotels or restaurants.

”These special themes can also be extended to couples renewing their marriage vows or celebrating their anniversaries,” she added.

The ”Hearts-a-Flutter Solemnisation” involves butterflies in a tropical rainforest, while couples opting for the ”Enchanting Eden Banquet” can make a dramatic entrance atop an elephant or in a horse-drawn carriage.

The nature-themed receptions cost from $35 (about R220) per guest. — Sapa-AFP
