Seven-time formula-one champion Michael Schumacher escaped uninjured on Thursday after a high-speed crash during a testing session.
Schumacher’s Ferrari was seriously damaged in the crash, which was attributed to a problem with the back left tire.
Medics attended to Schumacher after he climbed out of the car, but he did not go to the track hospital for a precautionary exam, Ferrari spokesperson Luca Colajanni said.
”He’s fine. He’s leaving the track now like normal because the session is finished,” Colajanni said.
The crash occurred at the end of the main straightaway, just before the Monza circuit’s parabolic curve, in a portion of the track where cars reach their highest speeds.
Ferrari was testing for the next formula-one race, the Italian Grand Prix, which is scheduled for September 12 at Monza.
